Use antifoam or antifoam to control the production of foam

Oct 8, 2018

Theaction of the defoamer is to suppress and eliminate the generation of airbubbles. In general, when the viscosity of water-based ink is toohigh, PH value is low, or when the press speed is relatively fast when it iseasy to produce bubbles, if the amount of bubbles will appear larger than thedirty version. Water-based inks generally usealkali-soluble binder, the binder material is an acidic resin alkali solution. Itis an aqueous solution similar to soap, because water-soluble binders have soapcharacteristics, in the fountain as the ink fountain roller stirring willproduce foam. Foam production will lead to print quality problems, sofor the water-based ink must use defoamer or antifoaming agent to control thefoam production.

Theantifoaming agent may disrupt or inhibit the foam which has been generatedwhile the antifoaming agent prevents or inhibits the formation of the foam. Antifoamingagents and antifoaming agents are generally water soluble materials such assilicon, modified fatty acids and alcohols such as ethyl alcohol. Theeffect of anti-foaming is usually related to the degree of aging of the ink,and the newly formulated ink is less likely to produce foam than the previouslyformulated ink.

Theuse of defoamers should note the defoamer and water mixing ratio, the generalrecommended about 3:1 ratio, and recommended the use of spray gun to the inktank in the ink tank surface. Anti-foaming agent or defoamer dosageshould be noted that should not be too much, or cause ink high yield point andthixotropic rheological problems, the local expansion of the printing platefish eye and pit defects.
